Tomorrow, I'm starting writing camp.
I decided to start wearing lolita from the start, because I feel like it's a good conversation starter and it's a good "expression of who I am, etc, etc." I already have my outfit picked out, and here it is:

Daily Post Twenty-One: Pittsburgh Lolita Meetup!

I love the Pittsburgh Lolita community.
Everyone is nice and welcoming, no one really wants to start any drama, and everyone always looks wonderful :D
Today, we went to the Antiqutea Tea House, which was a very convient location for me, and it was also so beautiful! Then, after tea with lunch, we moved to  the sitting room of the tea house and swapped and sold/bought some items. I only got an English gothic and lolita bible, because I made the mistake of not taking much money with me. After tea, we decided to go "attack" the mall, which was an incredibly fun experience because it's so public so a huge amount of people are around. We shopped around for a good long while, and then we headed home. It was really great fun and I can't wait to go to another meet soon~
But unfortunatley, my camera ate all of my pictures. So I am left with just thanking everyone for a great time!

Daily Post Twenty: Pre-Meetup Outfit Post~

I'm so excited for the meetup tomorrow. 
So excited, in fact, that I've already laid out my outfit in it's entirety XD
I'm really psyched, I think it will look great actually on.

I'm calling this "at the top" sweet lolita, because it's not crazy complicated, but it's still very eccentric.

Daily Post Nineteen: Loli-able Manga pt.1: Kitchen Princess Volumes 1&2

Many lolitas are curious to see what manga and anime have connections to lolita. 
The list, however, can be slightly underwhelming. Many people I know have already grown bored of Kamikaze Girls and Paradise Kiss. so I set out at my local library section to find a series that may hold some interest for lolitas, and here is the first result of my search: Kitchen Princess by Natsumi Ando and Miyuki Kobayashi!

So, I checked out the first two volumes from the library!
In my reviews, I will judge by three criteria: art, story, and why a lolita would like it. 
Art: I'm not a huge fan of the styling of the character's facial features, howevever, I love the art in the hair, clothing, and especially the food. It is very visually pleasing. The style is like many sojo manga, with sparkly and flowery backgrounds adorning every page, especally those focusing upon romance (we'll get to that in a moment). Overall, the art is not a hinderance to enjoying the story.
Story: The story may seem somewhat cliche to the jaded otaku, a plucky, determined protagonist must overcome the odds and succeed at what she is doing, while stuck between two boys vying for her romantic attention. However cliche, the story is engaging and very endearing,. The story so far is mainly episodic, the main character overcoming a different "challenge" in each chapter. Overall, the story isn't anything revolutionary, but it isn't boring you enough to set it down. 
Why a lolita would like it: I can find three main reasons why this manga appeals to me as a loli. The first is the cutesy story and nature of the characters, which is definitely a weak spot for me. Second is the main character's outfits, which range from a bland jeans and t-shirts to all-out loli inspired (as seen on the cover). I find that the clothing in manga is very interesting, and I find myself frequently flipping through pages simply to look at the designs. The third, and by far my favorite, is the focus on cooking. Our protagonist strives to become a world-redound pastry chef, and this leads to her cooking an adorably delicious dessert in every chapter. The dishes she chooses, spanning the entire world of dessert, include many lolita favorites, like strawberry cake and rainbow jelly. As an extra bonus, the recipe for each item is included in the back of the volume! I'd love to try one of the recipes, and definetly expect to hear about the results here on this blog.
As a whole, I really enjoy this manga, and I would reccomend it to anyone that has a soft spot for a good ol' classic sojo manga tale.

Daily Post Eighteen: Life Style Lolita.

I'll confess- I'm a "lifestyle lolita."
Yeah, one of those crazy chicks that covers everything in lace and stickers, tries to work lolita into her "regular life", and wears lolita or lol-inspired fashion every day. While many people interpret these sort of actions as trying to shove a fashion where it does not belong. However, I interpret the "lolita lifestyle" as trying to make the world around you more beautiful. Some people find more gothic things the most beautiful, some people find modern aesthetics to be the most beautiful, and I find the sweet lolita aesthetic to be the most beautiful. I like to bring this aesthetic into the items I have with me, the places I live, and the things I wear, and I admit, this makes me about the most happy that I can be. I feel elegant and delighted when I wear a nightgown with lace on it rather than a tee shirt and boxer shorts. I feel so, so excited putting on my lolita garb to go to a meetup. Lolita is something that truly makes me happy. This is the reason I want to put the lolita aesthetic into my life, not to fit a certain stereotype or to be like the people that I read about.
Reasons aside, I am not really a "fully" lifestyle-er quite yet. Through a slow process, I hope that I will be able to add more lolita to my wardrobe and the things around me. So, many of my future posts will include the things I have done to help reach this, and how maybe you could try some of them too.

Daily Post Seventeen: Some cute mall things

I went to the mall today.
My little sister had some shopping to do, so I tagged along and bought some stuff of my own, and I thought I'd share.
First, where I live, there is a very nice store carrying mostly Japanese gift prouducts, i.e, stickers, phone cases, etc, with common characters like banano and chocolat. And a lot of the items are very "loli-able".

And lastly, at JcPenny's, I found a really really cute nightgown. I was weirdly excited to wear this, I've never had a loli-able nightgown before!

I definetly reccomend this website.
Epicute.com, a website dedicated solely to pictures of adorable food, is a website on the famous cheezeburger network, famous for lolcats. However, this is my favorite blog of their many. Lolitas and non-lolitas alike love cute food, and this is the epicenter of it. There is a new post every day, and included is a brief description of it, and sometimes an added pun or two.
